In Fresno, the best-known bakeries and bagel shops have lines on weekend mornings, so arrive early or order ahead where the shop offers it. Across California, immigrant bakeries add Mexican pan dulce, Vietnamese banh mi bread, Chinese buns, Middle Eastern sweets and European rye to the mix, and many gluten-free and vegan bakeries have opened in larger cities. Check the listing for hours, whether the shop accepts custom cake orders and its Google rating before you go, and call about allergens, since small kitchens often share equipment. Day-old bread and end-of-day discounts are common if you ask.

Fresno is in California, on the West Coast, where the climate ranges from foggy coast to hot inland valleys, wildfire season can affect air quality in late summer, and traffic is the main thing to plan around. US addresses list the street number and name, then the city, state abbreviation and ZIP code, and Fresno follows the same pattern; a suite or apartment number such as Ste 200 refers to a unit inside the building. The map link on this page shows the exact spot.

Does the ice cream look good? Yes. Does it taste as good as it looks? Unfortunately it doesnβt, in my opinion. Iβm spoiled by Ampersand ice cream. I ordered the coconut pineapple and it was decent but didnβt taste like anything special. The prices here are cheaper than ampersand, and the scoops are larger too. But personally Iβll stick with the high quality taste of Ampersand Ice Cream.

Looks like we just found our new favorite treat spot in Fresno. So, I love ice cream. Who doesn't? But, if I'm honest, places like Coldstone and Baskin Robbins are overly sweet and overpriced. There's always Ampersand, which has solid taste and consistency, but the bougie flavors and bougie prices just aren't my bag. Enter Handel's. I didn't even know they existed until a few hours ago, but after reading other reviews, we decided to give it a shot. Upon arriving, we almost decided to move along because the line was clear out the door. But, we decided to give it a try anyway, and I'm glad we did! The line moved fast and our ice cream was in hand in less than 10 minutes from line to counter. I got a SMALL waffle bowl which was 3 and a half scoops of ice cream. I could only eat about a quarter of it. I tried Ooooh Dough, which was their homemade vanilla ice cream with oreos and cookie dough bites. It was perfect. Creamy and smooth, flavorful, and not overly sweet. My husband tried the Peanut Butter Fudge Brownie, and my kids had the Orange Creamsicle and Cotton Candy. Since it was Mother's Day (and likely why they were so busy), I made sure to take my mom-tax and tried

Have had ice cream at the Visalia location before but we were in the Fresno area and decided to stop at this location. You had TWO people working on a Saturday afternoon and the line was OUT THE DOOR. Thatβs a management issue and you need to do better at scheduling your employees especially on weekends. Stood there for about 15 minutes before finally walking out. Had two different sets of families in front of us and atleast 5-7 people waiting on their orders. If you feel like taking the drive I would suggest the Visalia location on Mooney instead. Much faster/friendlier service overall.

Wow!!! I grew up in a time of hand-dipped ice cream shops where the ice creams were made fresh and flavors followed the seasons. Handel's Homemade Ice Cream is all that and more!! They have rows and rows of freezers with ice cream flavors to choose. (They also have several sorbets) Flavors range from basic vanilla to exotic flavors like Blue Monster and Monkey Business. The ice cream is smooth and creamy. The flavors are thoroughly combined and robust in taste. The prices are reasonable for the generous servings and incredible quality. This could easily become my favorite ice cream shop...

We went here on a Friday and had to return on Saturday to try more flavors. Everything you order is extra large so don't get fooled by getting too much. Because who would want too much ice creme? We also tried the shakes and they were also great, mostly ice creme, make sure you get a spoon. Service was quick and friendly. Only one person on Friday and three on Saturday. The selection is incredible and I would try almost everything, given the time. The ambiance is mostly white and a little sterile looking. There are not a lot of places to sit so this is definitely a buy-and-go place. If you order what you like you won't be disappointed!
